The House

HISTORY OF THE HOUSE

Bryan Homes

Established 1903

Bryan brothers, Tom and Reed, had come down to Broward from New Smyrna when their father, Philemon Bryan, was hired by Henry Flagler to build part of the train rail line.

They were know as the movers & shakers in the area who inspired growth and built businesses to further the expansion of the area. They were an intricate part in creating what would become Fort Lauderdale as we know it. Over the years, they were also referred to “Fort Lauderdale’s First Family”.

The brothers’ built 2 homes side by side in 1903 which remained private residences until the mid-1970s, when they were acquired by the city and turned into a single structure to be home of a restaurant serving up a place where local history and food meet to create new history along the way.

Their Southern hospitality is part of the culture here at THE HOUSE, come be our guest.
